Barrington, Illinois. Located only 35 miles from downtown Chicago, The Village
of Barrington retains the charm and character that has made it special since
its incorporation in 1865.
The "Barrington Area" comprises nearly 90 square miles. The population
of the area hovers around 40,000 inhabitants; making it one of the least populated
areas within the Chicago suburbs. The "Village" of Barrington, the
hub of area activity has a population of approximately 9,600 people.
The Barrington area incorporates
four counties, six townships, eight villages and various unincorporated areas
all of which feed into one school system;
Barrington School District 220, an award winning school district comprising
eight elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The schools
consistently rate in the "top ten" of Chicago area schools.
Make sure to check out The Village and its unique shops and interesting restaurants;
its tree lined streets with proud old Victorian houses. The Catlow Theatre
is over 100 years old and still showing movies for $3.00. You'll love the convenience
of close-in shopping and access to Chicago via the Metra.
You can enjoy a leisurely horseback ride through Barrington Hills with its
90 miles of riding trails and lovely estate homes on 5-acre lots. Lake Barrington
and North Barrington provide us with several lakes to enjoy many water sports.
Deer Park and South Barrington offer newer homes, excellent park districts,
and more lakes. There is access to many golf courses, health clubs, ski trails,
hot air ballooning, and other recreational opportunities that our area offers.
There is great diversity in the area with a sense of uniqueness yet the area
allows easy access to Chicago and O'Hare airport.
