As of the census of 2000, there are 34,727 people, 13,278 households, and 9,294 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,214.5/km² (3,145.8/mi²). There are 13,513 housing units at an average density of 472.6/km² (1,224.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 86.03% White, 1.41% African American, 0.10% Native American, 8.79% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 2.30% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. 6.23% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
