Inverness Community Info Inverness,
Illinois. Amongst Chicagoans, the name Inverness is synonymous with wealth,
exclusive homes
and expansive lots. Inverness has become the place
to raise a family. With this in mind, the park district is developing a third
green with soccer fields and tennis courts. Also, an urban park was recently
completed in the center of town to retain the woodsy feel of the village’s
beginnings.
The community of Inverness was named after a county in Scotland. First developed
in 1938 by Arthur T. McIntosh, Inverness was designed as a getaway, patterned
after the Colonial homes of Williamsburg, Virginia. Today, the winding roads
and scenic landscaping still provide the 6,789 residents with the ambience
of country living while being just around the corner from the amenities of
urban life.
