Info
St. Charles, IL, Website
St. Charles, Illinois. International employers, innovative schools, beautiful
parks and significant architecture create a quality community - earning St.
Charles its reputation as the Pride of the Fox! Founded in 1834, St. Charles
is the center of Kane County, 35 miles west of downtown Chicago, mid-way between
Elgin and Aurora. State highways 25, 31, 38 and 64 cross St. Charles, as do
county thoroughfares Randall and Kirk Roads.
Over 1,600 businesses employ over 24,000. St. Charles is a GREAT AMERICAN MAIN
STREET AWARD winner, recognized in 2000 by the National Trust for Historic
Preservation as having one of the top downtown revitalization programs in the
nation.
Fine dining, live theater, 1,288 hotel rooms, Scarecrow Festival, the Fine
Art Show, the Kane County Flea Market, and a welcoming business community are
just some of the reasons this picturesque city on the Fox River is a destination
for travel and entertainment.
Charlestown Mall, Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center, and the DuPage
County Airport surround the east-side, 585 acre Business Park. To the west,
the busy Randall Road corridor is home to the Kane County Fairgrounds, and
the Kane County Judicial Center.
The Legend of Charlemagne is a local lore reminding elected officials and dedicated
citizens that St. Charles must remain a place where all are free to worship,
work, play, and learn.
